Communication/ Language Arts Writing; Indicator 1 Standard 1 write upper and lower case letters as appropriate.

Standard 3 use punctuation at the end of sentences.

Standard 4 begin sentences with capital letters.

Listening and Viewing: Indicator 1 Standard 1 follow various one and two-step directions.

Objectives:

The students will write the sentence:”I am a police officer” using the correct sentence structure.  The students will draw a police officer to go with the sentence.

Activities:

Write the sentence “I am a police officer” on half sheet of paper.  Students will draw a police officer at the top.  Teacher will keep these to make an easy reader community helper book for the children to read.

Materials Needed:

White half sheets of typing paper, pencils, colors, chalk, chalkboard

Assessment:

The teacher will check to make sure the students have written the sentence correctly and help the children make any corrections.
