Reading:  Indicator 3 Standard 1 describe how books, stories and poems reflect things people do.

Objectives:

The student will look at various books about police officers.

Anticipatory Set:

We will be talking about a special community helper, the police officer.  Have the children tell you as much as they can about a police officer.  Make a list on the board.

Activities:

The students will be looking at books in the Reading corner.  These books will be about police officers.  The students will discuss the various books with each other.

Materials Needed:

Police officer books, pillows, chalk, chalk board

Assessment:

I will observe the students at the Reading corner.  I will verbally ask them about their favorite book.
