Reading:  Indicator 2 Standard 2 identify the role of both the author and illustrator

Communication/ Language Arts Writing: Indicator 1 Standard 1 write upper and lower case letters as appropriate

Standard 3 use punctuation at the end of sentences.

Standard 4 begin sentences with capital letters.

Listening and Viewing  Indicator 1 Standard 1 follow various one and two-step directions.

Objectives:

The students will write the sentence “I am a Mail Carrier” using the correct sentence structure.  The students will draw a mail carrier to go with the sentence.

 

Activities:

The students will the copy the sentence “I am a Mail Carrier” on their white half sheet of paper.  The students will draw a mail carrier at the top of the paper.  Teacher will keep these sheets to make a community helper book.

Materials Needed:

White half sheets of typing paper, pencils, colors, chalk, blackboard

Assessment:

Teacher will check to make sure the students have written the sentence correctly and help the children make corrections if needed.
