Objectives: |
The students will sort the flames by colors. The students will create a pattern using the 3 colors of flames. |
Anticipatory Set: |
Today we are going to talk about a special community helper, the
firefighter. Discuss what a firefighter does. Read the story I’m a Firefighter”
by Mary Packard. Then explain to the
children the activities that we will be doing at each center. |
Activities: |
The students will sort the orange, red and yellow flames by color. The students will create a pattern using the ABA pattern, ABC pattern
or may create their own using the 3 colors. |
Materials Needed: |
Red, yellow and orange construction paper flames |
Assessment; |
The teacher will visually check the students groups and check their
different patterns. The teacher will assist the children who are having
difficulty. |

Extensions: |
Use the poem ”Five Little Firefighters” to practice ordinal numbers. Five Little Firefighters sleeping in their beds. The first one said ”Put your helmet on your head!” The second one said “Down the pole we’ll slide. The third one said, Get ready to ride!” The fourth one said ”Put your gas mask on your nose.” The fifth one said, “I’ll grab the hose!” Then Wooooo went the siren and out went the fire. ‘And the five little firemen could finally retire! |
