 Objectives:

The students will look at various books about firefighters and fire safety.

 

Anticipatory Set:

Today we are going to talk about a special community helper, the firefighter.  Discuss what a firefighter does.  Read the story” I’m a Firefighter” by Mary Packard.  Then explain to the children the activities that we will be doing at each center.

Activities:

The students will be looking at books in the Reading corner.  These books will be about the firefighters and fire safety. The students will discuss the various books with each other.

 

 

 

 

Materials Needed:

Firefighter and fire safety books, tape player, tape books, pillows

Assessment:

I will observe the students at the Reading corner.  I will verbally ask them about what they liked about a certain book.
