Standards:

Communication/Language Arts Standards Listening and Viewing Indicator 2 follow simple rules for conversations,e.g., taking turns.

Theater/ Dramatic Arts:  students will use theater  as a means for creative self-expression and interpersonal communications.

Objectives:

The students will pretend to be a doctor and have a pretend doctor’s office.

Activities:

Transform your dramatic play area into a medical center.  Decorate the walls with posters donated by a local doctor office.  Provide a white button up shirt or scrubs, surgery hats, masks, gloves for the students to dress up.  Also have a doctor’s kit with stethoscopes, thermometers, pillow, cot, reflex hammer, pretend IV , bandaids, wrap-style bandages, tongue depressors, syringes  and cotton balls for the children to use,  You may also have a clipboard, pencils, and pads of paper for filling out forms and writing prescriptions.

Assessment:

The teacher will observe the students while they are acting out the doctor roles.  I will observe to see if they are sharing and doing what they are supposed to at the center.
