Communication/Language Arts Standard Listening and Viewing Indicator 1 Standard 1 follow various one and two step directions.

Visual Arts Standards:  Students will understand the media, techniques and processes used in the production of visual arts.

Objectives:

The students will listen to directions to make a stethoscope and a doctor head band.

Activities:

The students will take a white tag board strip(3”x24”) for the headband.  The students will cover a 5”diameter circle with aluminum foil.  Glue the aluminum foil onto the circle to make it look like a mirror or light.  To make a stethoscope, children will paint the cupped area of an egg carton(cut one for each child)  Poke a hole and put a piece of yarn through each cup.

Materials Needed:

White strips of tagboard (3x 24”, white 5” circle, aluminum foil, glue, egg carton, paint, yarn.

Assessment:

Assessment will be at the completion of the projects.

Extensions:

The students may make paper bag doctor puppets.

The students may make cotton swab paintings or eye drop painting by squeezing paint into eye droppers and then squeeze onto paper
